How to run a Syncronous Application Case Activity?
This article will show you how to run your newly created Application Case activity to a team of students.
Step 1
From the "Modules & Activities" click the "Go to Dashboard" of the Application Case Activity.
Students teams will see the "Enter Test" button for the Application Case activity. Clicking this will open the placeholder screen with a disabled "Start Test" button.
Step 2
Click the "Start Application" button to Start the activity
The team reporter should go through and click on their answer choice until they finish the Application Case. Please note that the settings you turn on or off during the creation of your activity will affect the way the activity is conducted. For example, you may choose to turn off the ability to allow the student to go back and change their answer among other features which could be found during the setup of the activity.
Teams also see a timer clock displayed on the top of the screen that tells them how much longer they have to finish the Application Case. This time can be extended or stopped early via the teacher dashboard if need be:
Let's take a look at the Instructor's dashboard while running an Application Case activity.
You may look at the data you have available to you at this stage.
The first thing you might notice is that there are unassigned students in place. You will need to assign these students into teams via the option provided.
In the "Status" box, you can then see how quickly teams are getting through the Application Case
Please note, if teams are done sooner than you expected, you can choose to click the "End Application" button. If you find that teams need more time, as they often do, you can click the "Extend Time" button on the top of the page next to the timer clock. These options are at the top of the page:
You will also see your "Activity Settings" box which gives you a glimpse of the settings chosen for your activity during the creation process. That's at the top left corner of the dashboard.
You will initially notice that the questions will be listed in the "Item Analysis" board according to the team fail rate, ranging from 100% to 0%. This section will help you analyze how your team of students are doing on a question by question basis.
At the very top of the Team Analysis table you will see the grade legend tool which makes grading easier and less time consuming on multiple choice question types. You will then see rows that correspond to each team that took place in this activity as well as an identification of who was the reporter the moment the team submitted their evaluation. Note, that in one of the team answer choices you see multiple letters (C, D) and this is because that signifies a change of answers by the team reporter.
As you move further into the evaluation of your teams. You can start clicking on the "View More" hyperlink to see any elaborations that have been left your student teams. On MCQ type questions, you will see a notification letting you know that your student teams made an elaboration on that specific answer.
After the Application Case is over you may choose to go into presentation mode. You may do so by clicking on the Open Presentation Mode button in the questions area.
